Padel in Switzerland – A Conversation with Swiss Tennis

We spoke with Matthieu Amgwerd and Bruno Brüllmann, managing directors of Swiss Tennis Padel, about the rise of Padel in Switzerland and how events like the Incore Padel Cup promote the sport and strenghten its community.

Padel is growing rapidly worldwide. How is Switzerland keeping up?
Matthieu: Switzerland is at an exciting stage. Interest in Padel has accelerated in recent years, with new clubs and courts emerging, and a growing demand for tournaments. We are focusing on building a structured and long-standing ecosystem that ensures players, coaches, clubs, and business partners all have clear pathways to actively participate and grow.

Bruno: Exactly. The goal is to move from a niche sport to a widely recognized and accessible activity across the country, for all ages and skill levels. Our official tournaments throughout the year, as well as our Interclubs, contribute significantly to building awareness, and events such as the Incore Padel Cup also play a key role in establishing Padel as a sport of the future in Switzerland.

How do you plan to increase awareness and participation across Switzerland?
Bruno: Capitalizing on our long and successful experience in Tennis, we intend to develop Padel with a multi-layered approach:

  • For our licensees, offering a wide range of official tournaments and other competition formats to build a strong and broad community
  • Supporting the Elite players to be role models in Switzerland and inspire new talent
  • Embedding Padel practice among juniors at local level in order to get young people involved from an early age
  • Establishing a clear formation path & professional training courses for both players and coaches

Matthieu: We also want to develop partnerships with strong business partners, Incore Bank being one of them. That creates further visibility and credibility.

«Collaborations with partners like Incore Bank help us reach that goal.»

Why are partnerships with corporates important for the sport?
Bruno: Corporates can bring scale, professionalism, and strategic support to sport development. When a company like Incore Bank organizes a Padel Cup, it is not just an event – it is a statement about quality, commitment, and community. This helps Padel gain recognition as a serious sport while connecting it with new audiences.

Matthieu: Partnerships also create a bridge between business and sport. They allow us to position Padel as more than just leisure - it is about networking, team-building, and social interaction.

What makes Padel uniquely suited for this type of corporate engagement?
Matthieu: Padel is social, fast-paced, and easy to pick up. You do not need to be a professional athlete to play, which makes it perfect for events where participants have varying skill levels. Doubles matches keep everyone engaged, highly contributes to team spirit and the social dynamic fosters connection - exactly what you want in a corporate or networking context.

Bruno: It is a sport where competition and fun go hand in hand. That combination makes events memorable and meaningful for participants.

From your perspective, what does success look like according to Swiss Tennis Padel?
Bruno: We define success as both growing the sport and enhancing the overall experience. More clubs, more licensed players, more official tournaments and more Interclub matches are key indicators, but we also focus on the fun that Padel creates and whether players want to return and play again.

Matthieu: Collaborations with partners like Incore Bank help us reach that goal. When an event raises awareness, strengthens connections and leaves participants excited to play more, which is a real win for Padel - and for the community supporting it.

Any final thoughts on working with Incore Bank?
Matthieu: It is inspiring to work with an organization that understands the value of sport. They bring professionalism, vision, and genuine engagement, which elevates the entire event.

Bruno: Absolutely. Both entities share the same values: innovation, continuous improvement and best-in-class experience. A partner like Incore Bank helps us highlight Padel in its best light, while also creating a positive, community-driven experience for everyone involved.
